Chief Winslett officially began working with the Naval Sea Cadet Corps after returning from Iraq in 2004. He originally worked with the Alabama Division in Bessemer, AL as the Training Officer. About 2 years later, he transferred, as Executive Officer, to the Wiregrass Division in Coffee Springs, AL to be closer to home. In January, 2008, he took the helm as Commanding Officer of the Ironclad Division in Columbus, GA. Chief Winslett has received the following qualifications/awards: Seabee Combat Warfare Qualification; Submarine Qualification; Purple Heart; Navy & Marine Corp Achievement Medal; Meritorious Unit Commendation; Battle "E" (3); Good Conduct Medal; Naval Reserve Meritorious Service Medal; National Defense Service; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal (with Marine Corps appurtenance); Sea Service Deployment Armed Forces Reserve Medal (with Mobilization and 10 year service appurtenances; Expert Rifle; Expert Pistol. His civilian employment is with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He also officiates high school football and baseball and is very active in the local community. |
